Highland Adventist School Rocks
.
Some Highland Adventist School science students enjoyed a visit from Mike Cardinal recently.  Cardinal, owner and operator of Cardinal Creations in Elkins, displayed and  described his extensive collection of rocks which he has gathered in his travels around the world.  The students, who had been studying rocks and minerals in their science class, were able to study a variety of rocks, including diamonds, sulphur, fossils, many different gemstones, and a number of other specimens.  Cardinal also led the students in experiments with some of the rocks, which helped them learn some  properties of the specimens.  "Hands-on exposure to science is so much better than just reading about a science topic," commented Cheryl Jacko, teacher.  "I really appreciate Mike's willingness to spend an afternoon with our students and share his interest in rocks and minerals.  They really enjoyed it."
